Proper 2-Cycle Oil to Use in My Husqvarna Chainsaw

Husqvarna manufactures an assortment of handheld chainsaw models featuring two-cycle gas engines fueled by a mixture of gas and lubricating oil. The company specifies that the two-cycle oil it believes will work best in its own chainsaws. Husqvarna prefers that owners utilize its own brand of synthetic two-cycle oil, but also lists the specifications that mineral-based two-cycle oil must fulfill.

Husqvarna Recommendations

The company recommends the Husqvarna XP Professional Performance manufacturer of synthetic two-cycle engine oil, mixed at the 50-to-1 ratio of 2.6 fluid ounces of oil to 1 gallon of unleaded mid-grade gas. Husqvarna says mineral-based (non-synthetic) two-cycle petroleum may be used at the same 50-to-1 mixing ratio if the container label says that the oil meets the JASO-FD, ISO-EGD or API-TC lubrication quality specifications.
