Plunge Into a Refreshing Beach-House Look

My loved ones and I awakened off lately for a weekend at lovely Santa Barbara, California, a city that offers long walks along the shore, a quick snooze on the sand and strolls along State Street’s bustling restaurants and stores. As I walked loving some retail therapy, I noticed colors in the shop windows that pop up each year around this time: aqua, turquoise, orange, white and navy blue.

They’re sure signs that summer is here. Plus they bring to mind yet more memories of time spent near the beach and of a relaxed, carefree moment.

A beach house can be decorated so many ways, but some key textures and colors appear to unify this favorite aesthetic. For some, “beach house” may mean references into the sea, with its blue colour. For others, it represents a relaxed lifestyle, simple spaces and pared-down living. Prepare for summer with these spaces.

With its white walls, natural wood shapes, bleached floors and soft buttery art, this distance has all of it. This beachy vibe comes out of a muted palette that isn’t overdone or too thematic. Here is the complex side to beach-house living.

This bath is a feast feast. Using its sand-colored grass cloth, distressed white paint and oversize glass pendants, it has all of the textures of the beach.

This is what I predict California casual. White walls with beadboard on the ceiling, with an open design and wicker seats all beckon for lazy days with flip-flops left in the doorway.

What a fun and functional space for teenagers. It is a lucky group of children who get to hang within this beachy guesthouse, which includes a kitchenette, a loft space and sofas for lounging. All colors are sea blue, white and green. It is a perfect pit stop for quick bites between swims.

Blue and white is a timeless beach color combination. I love the use of conventional white siding within an inside application. Texture and white and blue details equals instant beach vibe.

The outside shower in a beach house is used as much as the indoor showers. Dealing with sandy feet, bathing suits and pets makes this type of must-have functional amenity. Note the weathered colour of the outside shingles that finish this beach look.

This looks like the swankiest lifeguard tower. A little nook is used as a perching space for people-watching and catching a daily sunset.

For many people, this distance is beach interior in its finest. A simple, noncluttered space that is dripping in white, this comfy mattress and breezy curtains evoke sleepy late afternoons following a day of fun in the sun.

White slipcovers are synonymous with beach interiors. Allowing for the occasional sandy smudge, slipcovers can be pulled off and thrown in the wash.

1 great benefit to some beach aesthetic is that you don’t actually require costly window treatments. To maximize views, consider plain white windows with crisp molding and trim. Save the fussy treatments for town.

Make the most of natural light. Note the use of organic Roman shades to restrain some light and provide textural interest. This palette is timeless beach, but with a twist of bright raspberry-colored pillows.

Here’s the use of a watery aqua colour in light that is repeated in accessories. Light-toned forests are reminiscent of driftwood. An oceanscape oil is always a wonderful addition to almost any beach aesthetic.
